Join Richmondshire Orchestra Sunday 28 November  at Tennants Garden Rooms Leyburn for a high-spirited programme beginning with Mendelssohn’s Ruy Blas Overture, embodying the nobility of the Spanish Court, a prank and a love story that ends in tragedy. Trumpeter Michael Atkinson lifts the spirits with the familiar tunes of Haydn’s Trumpet Concerto. The concert ends with Beethoven’s Symphony No 7 which is by turns playful, sorrowful, boisterous, and high-energy throughout.

Richmondshire Orchestra is a community based group which seeks to perform to a high standard, and gives three concerts a year.  This year we will have a number of guest conductors.  We rehearse on Thursday Evenings 7.30pm - 9.30pm during term-time.  Rehearsals will now take place at the Main Hall, Richmond School Darlington Road DL10 7BQ.

If you would like to join us, please telephone the secretary, Jill Russell 07814118468, or email using the contact form below. Entry is open to all string players, but places for wind and brass players depend on the balance of forces available.  Besides giving orchestral concerts the orchestra has recently joined with Richmondshire Choral Society for Choral Concerts and has also accompanied a “Songs of Praise” for the churches of Richmond.

There is a strong social side to the orchestra and most terms there is a celebratory orchestral dinner. The orchestra is managed by a committee and once a year we raise money by organising a Coffee Morning at Richmond Town hall.
